Berthier (Bert) Picard Obituary

Berthier (Bert) Picard

Madawaska, ME

Berthier (Bert) Picard of Madawaska passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024 at his Ridgewood home.  He was born March 31, 1931 to Donat and Cecile (Caron) Picard in St. Agatha.

Bert was very proud to have served in the Korean War and received multiple military medals. He married Rita Dubois on September 1, 1955 and had two children, Glen Picard (spouse Patty) of Madawaska and Marie Sullivan (spouse Bret) of Gray.

He worked all his life as a Meat Cutter and in 1976, he opened up his own business, Bert’s Meat & Fish, which he successfully operated for over 25 years. He was recognized for maintaining an immaculate home and grounds as well as making fond memories with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a Lifetime member of the American Legion and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

He is survived by his spouse and children, his sisters Jean Sirois, Bobbie Thibeault (spouse Roland), Rose Gendreau as well as his grandchildren Mike Sullivan (wife Vanessa) of Readfield, Todd Sullivan of West Gardiner, Jaymi Martel (spouse William and son Brandon) of Lewiston, Nate Picard (spouse Katryn) of Gray, Allison Stevens (spouse Cory and son Isaiah and daughters Selah and Naomi) of Boiling Springs SC, Logan Ouellette (spouse Amber and daughter Kayci), Ryan Picard (significant other Becca Platz) and Cody Ouellette (spouse Chelsea and sons Parker, Grayson and Emerson) of Caswell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Gilmay Marquis and brothers-in-law Roland Marquis, Roger Sirois and Roland Gendreau.

Bert will be remembered for his hard work ethic, his sense of humor and his ability to fit in any crowd. He loved his family unconditionally and will be deeply missed.

We want to thank Father LaBrie for his kind words as well as the entire staff of Ridgewood Estates for their compassion and loving care. In lieu of flowers,  donations may be made in Bert’s memory to Ridgewood Estates – Activity Department (480 Ridgewood Avenue Madawaska ME).  Envelopes available at the Church.
