Alexandrine (Martin) Michaud

Alexandrine Michaud (Martin) passed away on December 22, 2022 at the age of 95, surrounded by relatives and Ridgewood Estate friends. Alex was born in Saint David on April 24, 1927.  She was predeceased by her husband, Roland Michaud.  Alex is survived by her two sisters Jackie Cyr of Van Buren, Marietta and husband Donald Cyr of Hamlin and brother, Raymond and wife Sally Martin of Oklahoma.  She is also survived by two special sisters-in-law, Grace and Dorina Martin.  She was predeceased by sisters, Rachel Michaud, Muriel Jasper, Rinette Cyr and brothers Jean Paul, Robert and Clayton Martin.

They never had children of their own, but she mothered hundreds of children that crossed her path.  She opened her home and her arms to many children as she ran her own little daycare while living in Massachusetts.  Evidence of her love for them and their love of her was very apparent in the pictures and artifacts she saved.  “I really loved those kids and taking care of them”, is a sentiment she shared with us often.  Affectionately known as Tante Alex to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, every single one of us looked forward to the time we spent with her.  She was a wonderful sister to her siblings and a beautiful friend to her in-laws.

A special thanks to the care provided to Alex from her Ridgewood Estate family.  She would often mention the great food, activities and the wonderful people that interacted with her daily.  She will be missed by many.  In her humble way, she never realized the power behind her loving intentions and actions she shared with everyone she met.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Saint David Church.  Spring interment will be in the St. Agatha Lower Cemetery.  Alex was always front and center enjoying all the activities Ridgewood Estates provided to their beautiful residents.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Alex’s name may be made to the Activity Department at Ridgewood Estates, Madawaska, Maine.
