Alice M. Chasse

The strong foundation of our family has been shaken by the passing of our Mother, Alice M. Chasse, 93, on January 14, 2022, in Spartanburg, SC.  Born in Ste. Rose, Degelis, Quebec, Canada on September 7, 1928 to Moise Lavoie and Marie Alice Dube-Lavoie.

Our Mother found joy by cooking special meals for our family gatherings, attending art classes, going dancing, mastering crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper, and foraging for wild berries in the backyard forest. 

Mom is predeceased by her husband Clifford, her parents, and eight of her siblings. Her memory will be fondly cherished by her three children, Thomas (Chase) Chasse and his life partner Corinne Ouellette of Frenchville, ME, Lucie Ballou and her husband Alan of Inman, SC, and Joel Chasse and his wife Heather of Eagle Lake, ME. 

Mom is survived by her eight grandchildren, Nate Picard and his wife Kat of Maine, Allison Stevens and her husband Cory of South Carolina, Ryan Picard of Maine, Morgan Chasse of Arizona, Isiac Chasse, Hannah Chasse, Marissa Sutherland and Alex Sutherland, all of Maine.

The joys of her life were also her great-grandchildren, Isaiah (6), Selah (4) and Naomi (2), of Boiling Springs, SC., who made her beam with pride every time she saw them or spoke of them. She relished the fact that she had lived long enough to become a well loved great-grandmother. 

She will also be missed by her sister, Laura St. Pierre, and her brother Paul Lavoie, both of Canada, and her countless nieces and nephews from Canada and the United States. 

Funeral arrangements will be made through the Michaud Funeral Home of Frenchville, ME., in the Spring of 2022.
