Obituary

Armand Joseph Lagasse

St. David, ME

Armand Joseph Lagasse, 86, died peacefully September 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family and loving wife, Venette ‘Violette’ Lagasse of more than 61 years. He was born in St. David, Maine on August 11th, 1936, the son of Joseph D. and Josephine ‘Dufour’ Lagasse.

Armand was predeceased by his parents and close sister, Rina Soucy, whom he shared a birthday, as well as three brothers, Henri, Gerard and Clarence and six sisters, Delia Beaulieu, Theresa Couturier, Ernestine Fournier, Emelia Dufour, Marie Rose Dionne and Rina Soucy.

He is survived by his Wife Venette ‘Violette’ Lagasse, five children Arlene and husband Danny, Gary, and Diana, all of Aroostook County, Maine; Jason of Fishers, Indiana;Mark and wife Maria of Chester, New York; Nine grandchildren Shawn, Tasha, Eric and wife Chantal, Ryan and wife Danielle, Andrea and husband Bruce, Amanda and husband Charles, Kurt, Kimberly, and Amelia; Nine great-grandchildren Zeus, Madalyn, Matthew, Hallie, Ryker, Bentley, Haisley, Ivy, and Bryson; Two sisters Cecile Fournier and Joan Winfrey and husband Gerald; A Sister-in-law Evelyn Beaulieu and brother-in-law Rone Henry Violette.

Armand was a lifelong jack of all trades with mechanics as his strong suit. He served the community of Madawaska with mechanical services for 16 years until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Although he could no longer serve the community, it did not stop him from helping his family when needed. That was another trait of Armand that shined through, he was always so giving, especially when it came to the vegetables in the garden that his wife Venette planted. Whether this was to help others or help himself by not having to eat vegetables, we’ll never know. Armand enjoyed telling jokes and playing pranks on anyone who walked through the door, so it was hard to tell when he was serious. Even though his health had declined in the last couple years as he battled with cancer and a heart condition, he never loss his sense of humor or his smile. His household was always one with laughter and music which he played on a variety of instruments. Armand was very musically gifted among the many other things he was. We will miss him greatly.

We the family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Liia’s office, Dr. Silwana Sidorczuk, Fr. Alex Anthony & Lisa and Aaron from Northern Lights Hospice for the wonderful services and friendship provided to Armand and our family.
