Presque, Isle ME
Arnold R. Scott, 89, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 28, 2024, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. He was born on December 21, 1934, the son of Robert and Octavia (Crouse) Scott of Presque Isle. He was most content at his camp on Cross Lake, spending the days at the lake with family and friends, boating, fishing, hunting and enjoying evenings by the campfire.
Arnold was a proud member of the Presque Isle High School class of 1953. After graduation he worked for Street’s Men Shop as a salesclerk. In 1960, he started his career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 30 years. He started as a Postal Clerk and progressed to Superintendent of Postal Operations. It was in Presque Isle that he met the love of his life, Grace Boucher of Sinclair. They married on August27, 1960, going on to enjoy 64 years of marriage and raising their daughter, Cynthia and son, Troy. Arnold had an unwavering work ethic and always worked multiple jobs. His love for the outdoors led him to start his own business, Partners in Sports, selling Old Town canoes and other outdoor sporting equipment. For many years he worked for Maine Building Systems selling modular homes to families across the County. After retirement from the USPS, he worked for Northeast Packaging for 19 years, which provided him the opportunity to travel the beautiful County countryside, meeting and building relationships with Farmers. Arnold was a member of the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club, earning Kiwanian of the year in 1991 and 1992 and recognized for outstanding club leadership as club President in 1993. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a member of the Irving Woodlands Stakeholders Group.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Grace; daughter, Cynthia, and her husband, John Tewksbury; son, Troy, and his wife, Paulette Scott; as well as four grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Wilburn Scott; and sister, Loraine (Scott) Hunt.
A graveside service at St. Joseph Cemetery in Sinclair, Maine, will be conducted on Friday, October 11 at 11:00a.m.
