Arthur Landry Obituary

ST. AGATHA—Arthur “Babe” Landry, 88, died on August 8th in Portland, Maine.  He was born in St. Hilaire, New Brunswick on March 13, 1927, the son of Daniel and Febronie (Pelletier) Landry.

After about forty years, Babe retired from Fraser Paper in 1984 where he was a foreman in the catalogue department. After his retirement he spent almost thirty years growing and selling perennial flowers on Cleveland Road in St. Agatha to folks from over seventy towns in Maine and from more than twenty-five states. He enjoyed square dancing, bowling, gardening, playing cards, watching the Red Sox games, and reading westerns. Over the years he was involved in Marriage Encounter, La Rencontre, and the Knights of Columbus. In later years he made many painted lawn ornaments, did paintings on old saw blades, and built over 500 wooden wheelbarrows which were sold to people all over New England.

He is survived by his wife Irma (Bouchard), three sons; Robert of St. Agatha, Rino of Laconia N.H. and his partner George, Louis of Madawaska and his companion Joyce: two daughters; Mary Michaud of St. Agatha, and Doris Stevens of Fort Kent and her husband Gary.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Tonya Michaud and her companion Andrew Marquis of St. Agatha, Sarah Landry of St. Agatha, Nika (Landry) and her husband Lee Day of St. Agatha, Heather (Stevens) and her husband Chris Huston of Fort Kent, and Jacob, Amelia, and Abby Stevens also of Fort Kent. He enjoyed spending time with his four great-grandchildren: Tanner and Drew Marquis, and Drake and Brynn Huston.

He was predeceased by his daughter Charlene, three brothers: Willard, Oneil, and Yvon, five sisters: Yvette, wife of Denis Theriault; Irene, wife of Lucien Michaud; Dorothy, wife of Alphy Pelletier; and Martha, wife of Levite Pelletier; and Dora, wife of Roy Kraack.
