Bertrand Albert, 81, of Frenchville, Maine passed away at his home on March 5, 2025, ending his battle with cancer. Born on April 3,1943, in his beloved town of Frenchville. He was the son of Abel and Phoebe (Blanchette) Albert.
Bert served as Foreman for the town of Frenchville for 44 years, from 1962 at age 19 to his retirement in 2006. He then continued his passion by starting his own Excavating business until he
passed the reigns to his son Mark in 2022. Bert’s favorite place was sitting in his Pay Loader working in his gravel pit which he continued to do until he was not physically able.
Bert was a very social man; he loved talking with people, getting together with lifelong friends every weekend, traveling to Old Orchard Beach and Connecticut to visit family and friends. Bert was a member of the Frenchville Fire Department for 60 years (1965-2025) where he served as Assistant Fire Chief. His was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bert’s dedication to the Town of Frenchville earned him many merits through the years such as the Citizen of the Year award in 1990, recognition for services rendered from the Recreation Department and appreciation for outstanding and dedicated service to the Frenchville Historical Society.
Bert is survived by his daughter Diane Schweter and husband Kenny of Litchfield, CT and son Mark and wife Erica of Frenchville. Bert leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Shayna, Mackenzie and Macie as well as sisters Theresa Martin of Connecticut, Rita Thibeault of Connecticut, Jeanine Bosse of Frenchville, Linda Cyr of Baie Creuse and brother Roger “Moose” Albert of Frenchville. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one sister Cecile Pelletier of Frenchville and his loving wife of almost 60 years, Jackie.
There will be a gathering for friends and family before the service on Saturday, March 15, at 9:30 at the St. Luce Catholic Church in Frenchville, service follows at 10:00 a.m.
