Claire Pelletier Obituary

Claire Cyr Pelletier of Bangor and Madawaska, Maine passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, with her children beside her. Claire was born in St. David, Maine on September 22, 1941, the daughter of the late Edgar and Cecile (Dumond) Cyr. She married her husband Philip Pelletier on July 15, 1964, and they have two children: Patrice (Pelletier) Seltzer of Saco, Maine, and Ritchie Pelletier of Bangor, Maine.

Claire attended public school in Madawaska, graduating in 1959.After high school, she worked at Rossignol’s Insurance Agency in Madawaska for several years, then attended Pelletier’s School of Cosmetology in Lewiston. Fulfilling her childhood dream, she opened her own beauty salon in Madawaska, which she operated for many years. She was dedicated to her customers, many of whom remain close family friends. Claire was a loving mother, wife, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend. She could always be counted on for advice on all manner of life issues, and she was often sought out as a beloved friend, advisor, and confidant by those who knew her. With her spirited energy, Claire always stood ready to serve others. She loved cooking and shared her talents, welcoming family and friends into her home, and comforting them with warm company and wonderful food. As her children, our friends would sometimes joke that they loved us, but they loved our mother more. We accepted this with a smile and grace, knowing that a love like Mom’s was too big to contain, and was better shared, making everyone’s world a little bit better. For her love we are grateful. And for all who loved her we are grateful. Her loving smile and special wisdom will be missed.

Claire is survived by her daughter Patrice and husband Scot Seltzer, her son Ritchie Pelletier, two grandchildren; Cameron and Hannah Seltzer, sisters; Joan (Robert) Lamontagne, Emily Cyr, Juliette Cyr, Marie Rose Cyr, a brother Richard (Francine) Cyr, along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, sister Deselene (Norm) Nolette and infant sister Charlene Cyr.

Claire was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 4 at 10:00 am at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska, followed by a lunch reception in the church basement. There will not be calling hours.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Terri Febbraro and her team at Maine Health in Scarborough, and to Northern Light Home Care and Hospice in Bangor, for the exceptional care and kindness they provided.
