Donat Michaud Obituary

Donat H. Michaud of St. Agatha, Maine at the age of 90, died peacefully at EMMC in Bangor on August 10, 2013. He was born in St. Agatha on Feb. 28, 1923, to the late Donat and Amanda (Chasse) Michaud. He graduated from St. Agatha High School in the class of 1942, but received his diploma upon his return from World War II in 1947. He served 3 years in the Army, including 30 months in the South Pacific, Guam and Okinawa. Upon his return, he married Mona Nadeau of Edmundston, NB. They moved to Connecticut where he worked for Alcoa, Stanley Works and Bridgeport Metal Goods. After 18 years, Don and his family moved back to St. Agatha, Maine. There he was employed with Fraser Paper Mill for 22 years and retired from there in 1985. Don was a member of the American Legion Post 145 in Frenchville, ME, and acted as commander. He also served as Town Selectman, was on the school board and recreation director in St. Agatha. He enjoyed his retirement for 28 wonderful years by beginning it with a road trip across country with his wife to visit family. Don also enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and golfing, raising ducks and homing pigeons. 

Don is survived by his wife, Mona (Nadeau) Michaud of 66 years, 2 daughters, 3 sons, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His children include Linda Gendreau of Greenville, SC. Dana and his wife, Claire of St. Agatha, Dennis and his wife Bernice of St. Agatha, Dean and his wife Shelle of Phoenix, AZ, and Jennifer Maine and her husband Christian of Campton, NH. Don is also survived by one brother, Bob Michaud of St. Agatha, and 2 sisters, Angela Raymond of Sarasota, FL and Betty Jean Crabtree of NH. 

Besides his parents, Don is predeceased by one son, James Michaud, 4 sisters, Sister Gabrielle Michaud of St. Agatha, Marie Malvey of CT, Rose Dufour of Madawaska, and Patricia Landry of Edmundston, NB. He is also predeceased by 4 brothers, Richard, Jack and Jean, all of St. Agatha, and Raymond of CT.
