Elmer "Mer" Daigle Obituary

Frenchville - Elmer "Mer" Daigle, 79, passed away at NMMC Sunday, December 11, 2022, after battling cancer and other illnesses.   He was born on April 14, 1943 to Leonide and Cecile Daigle.

He served his country proudly in the Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.  Elmer started his own body shop business, Mer & Boys Body Shop, from his house garage in 1974.  This business is still running strong today which his step-son Michael took over back in 2000.  He was very active in several organizations such as the American Legion Post 145 in Frenchville, a member of the Knights of Columbus 7920 of St. Agatha, and the Frenchville Fire Department ranked as a Captain upon retiring from the department.  Those that knew Elmer knew him as a kind, loving and a very strong person.  Always cracking a joke and being the life of a party.  He was very fond of his family, as one of the grandchildren would call him "Big Daddy".  He always enjoyed being around his family.  During the summer months, one could wave to him as he'd be sitting on his front porch.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Jackie (Ouellette) Daigle.  On December 13, 2022 they would of celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.  He leaves behind a son, Jason Daigle and his companion, Misty of Monticello.  Two special step-sons that he took as his own, Michael (Lisa) Michaud of Frenchville and Dana (Janet) Michaud of Arizona.  He was so proud of his seven grandchildren.  Wyatt, Travis and Aliya Daigle of Florida; Justin (Jessica) Michaud of Fort Kent; Devin (Mindy) Michaud of Caribou; Dallas Michaud of Florida; and Dylan and his companion Erin of Arizona.  He was also blessed with five beautiful great-grandchildren, Addison and Austin Michaud of Fort Kent, Dawson and Rowyn Michaud of Caribou and the newest addition to the family, one month old Melody Michaud of Arizona.

Elmer is also survived by his siblings, Emile (Joella) Daigle of Frenchville; Camille (Claudette) Daigle of Turner; Joyce (Lucien) Ayotte of St Agatha and Gladys (Scott) Theriault of Sanford.  He was predeceased by his father, Leonide in 1973; his mother, Cecile in 1976 and his brother, Kenneth in 2017.  He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews as well and many family members and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 16, 2022 in St Luce Church, Frenchville.  Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8pm and Friday, December 16, 2022 from 8:30am to 9:30 in Michaud Funeral Homes in St. Agatha, Maine.  Burial will be held in the Spring.
