Elroy J. A. Daigle (Bobby), 90,  passed away June 7 at Ridgewood Estates in Madawaska, ME.  He was born in Fort Kent Maine on July 25th, 1930, the son of Alcide and Gertrude Daigle

 He married Alphena Blier from Fort Kent in 1952 and was the proud father of 6 children- Ann Lee, Deborah Ouellette (Frank),Carla Daigle, Robert Daigle (deceased), Glendon Daigle (HyOke), and Daniel Daigle (Jean). He has 9 grandchildren – Dustin Lee (Desiree), Matthew Lee (Rachel),Sean Kavanagh, Adam Kavanagh (Chelsea) Danielle Bonenfant, Nicole Daigle, Kelly Reynolds, Erika Daigle, and Joey Daigle. He is blessed with 10 great grandchildren.

 Elroy was intensely proud of his military career.  He joined the National Guard in Fort Kent in 1948.  He became Unit Commander and shortly thereafter, left for Fort Sill, Oklahoma, with his family in tow. After intense study, he graduated from the Advance Career Course and obtained a Top Secret Clearance as a Nuclear Weapons Employment Officer. After graduation, he transferred from the National Guard to the U.S. Army Reserve where he was promoted to Major. He attended and graduated from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He then retired from the National Guard and Reserve in 1990 with 42 years of service and a rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

In the year 1997, he also retired from the Department of Transportation for whom he was employed for 47 years as a State Highway District Manager.

Elroy is survived by his sisters Violet Daigle (Fort Kent), Welma Petetabella (Presque Isle), Velma Boucher (Connecticut), Bernadette Mitchell (Eagle Lake), and a brother, Laurel Daigle (Fort Kent).

The funeral mass will be held at St. Luce Church in Frenchville on June 11 at 10:00 A.M..  There will be visitation before the mass at 8:00 – 9:30 at the Frenchville Funeral Home. Family will be there to welcome friends and family. Burial in the St. Luce Cemetery.
