Frenchville
Gerard J. Michaud 88, died peacefully on June 17, 2014 at Mercy Home in Eagle Lake, after a courageous journey through the struggles of Alzhemiers. He will at last be reunited with his beloved wife Jeannine in God's eternal garden.
Gerard was born August 10, 1925 in Frenchville the son of the late John I. and Laura 'Ouellette' Michaud. Gerard was a potato inspector for a few years after having served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then was employed at Fraser Paper Co. in Madawaska, where he worked until his retirement in 1988, often taking vacation time to work for local farmers during the potato harvest.
Gerard was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 145 of Frenchville & a Fourth Degree member of then Knights of Columbus Council #7920 of St. Agatha, and a former member of the Frenchville Fire Dept.
Gerard leaves behind his three children, Diane and her husband Tommy of Fort Kent, Dot & her husband David of Augusta, and Michael & his wife Patty of St. Agatha. He will be greatly missed by his five grand children, Tracey, Nikki, Melanie, Jake and Ben, also two great grand children Ava, Zack who loved him greatly.
Gerard is survived by two sisters, Therese Soucy of Bristol, Ct., Rita Leclerc of New Britain & many nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Mark & Philemon, Leo James & Raoul & sisters Laurette, Priscilla & Germaine.
Friends & relatives may call at Michaud Funeral Home in Frenchville on Friday evening 6 - 8 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday until time of services. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 1 :00 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Frenchville with the Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Luce Cemetery.
