Mapleton - Gilbert Edward Soucy, 94, of Madawaska and Mapleton, Maine, sadly left us on August 10, 2023, at Northern Light Health A.R. Gould after a period of declining health while surrounded by his family.
He was born in Edmundston, N.B on December 21, 1928, son of Edward Soucy and Elodie (Picard) Soucy Nadeau. He attended schools in Madawaska and after graduating joined the U.S. Airforce where he served for four years and was honorably discharged. Upon his return home he was Employed by Michaud Dry Cleaners and also worked for Fraser Paper Ltd as a paper inspector until his retirement. Gil loved the simple pleasures in life whether it was sitting outside in the sun, watching and listening to the birds or watching random wildlife pass by and on many occasions would be able to capture with his love for photography. But most of all he loved family and he will missed tremendously.
He was predeceased by his parents; his stepfather, Eugene Nadeau; his brother, Roger Soucy; and a nephew, Jerry Soucy. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty eight years, Patricia Morin Soucy of Madawaska and Mapleton; a daughter, Vicki and her husband, Greg Michaud of Mapleton; a daughter, Lisa and her husband, Colin Gamblin, of Hampden; grandchildren, James Michaud of Levant, Daniel Michaud of Brewer, and Danielle Gamblin of Saco; one great-grandson, Wyatt Michaud of Levant; godson, Robert Soucy of Bridgton; and nieces, Muriel Soucy of Scarborough, and Alice Soucy Huffman of Windham.

Burial will be at a later date.
