Jeannine Lucy (Cyr) Cyr

Jeannine Lucy Cyr, 74, of St. Agatha, returned to her heavenly home on January 21, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God gave her peace.

Jeannine was born on February 24, 1943, raised in St. David and was the daughter of the late Vincent and Irene (Hebert) Cyr.  She was an active member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church as well as a member of the Legion Auxilliary.  She enjoyed volunteering in the community.  Jeannine was a Eucharistic minister, helped with the funeral luncheons, and counted money for the church.  Jeannine LOVED playing cards and often told the “skunk” to wait.  She organized the senior center’s  “charlamagne” card games every Wednesday.   Jeannine was kind, soft spoken, and always found the humor in life.

Jeannine is survived by Jean-Paul, her loving husband of 50 years and four children, Francine Nason and her husband Dennis of Saco; Michael Cyr of Manvel, Texas; David Cyr and his wife Irina of Arlington, MA; and Patricia Slimm and her husband Robert of Hope, RI.  Jeannine also had six grandchildren, Elise Nason, Grace Nason, Curtis Nason, Avi Cyr, Chloe Cyr and Heather Slimm, who were all the apples of her eye.  Jeannine’s greatest joy was her family and having her children around or call with their stories. 

Several siblings, her twin sister, Jeanne Pratt of Madawaska; Verna Lausier of Madawaska; Fernand Cyr of Madawaska; Fernande Bush of Augusta; Martha Dufour and her husband Francis of Madawaska; and Jackie Johnson of Scarborough, several in-laws, nieces and nephews, also survive Jeannine.   Her parents, her brother Jean-Paul, and several in-laws predecease Jeannine. 

In lieu of flowers, Jeannine asked that donations be made to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund.  Viewing hours will be from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, January 26 at Michaud Funeral Home in St. Agatha.  Her funeral will be held at 10 am on Saturday at Our Lady of the Valley Church in St. Agatha.  She will be dearly missed.  “No matter how many years you may live, you should enjoy all of them.” (Eccl 11:8)
