Joseph Patrick Bourgoin, 81, passed away on January 04, 2019 at an Eagle Lake care facility after a long illness. He was born November 10, 1937 youngest of 6 children, son of the late Patrick and Alvine (Marquis) Bourgoin from Ste. Agatha.
Joseph Bourgoin was well known in the community of Madawaska and Fort Kent. He owned “Frenchie’s Garage” in Frenchville, Me; later employed as a welder and millwright at Fraser Paper Ltd and an avid hunter and snowmobiler (member of local snowmobile clubs and the Bristol Rod and Game Club in Ct). Joseph was happiest on Flat Mountain camping with his family and entertaining guests singing with his guitar and family slideshows.
He is survived by five children: Dolores Neilson of Bethany, Ct; Patricia Dzienis and her husband Donald of Moodus, CT; Roderick Bourgoin of Southington, Ct; Gloria Santarpia and her husband Robert of Odenton, Md and Michael Bourgoin and his wife Mary Jo of Harwinton, Ct; fourteen grandchildren: Sonia Berube Hartnett, Carolyn Berube Walsh, Alison Berube LeClair, Lindsey Neilson, Nicole Deschaine, Bonnie Deschaine Boothroyd, Christine Martin, Brandon and Jennifer Bourgoin, Alyssa Ray, Samantha and Andrew Santarpia, Sarah and Hailee Jo Bourgoin;
one sister Eva Bourgoin Chasse of East Millinocket, Me and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by one brother: Onezime Bourgoin of East Hartford, Ct; three sisters, Irene Bourgoin Hebert of Fort Kent, Me; Ida Bourgoin Roy of Daigle, Me and Yvonne Bourgoin Gravel of Plainville, Ct and thirteen great grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Agatha Catholic Church Thursday August 8 at 10:00am. Family and friends may give their condolences from 9:00 until time of service. He will be buried alongside his father and mother in the St. Agatha Upper Cemetery in the Spring.
