Joyce Martin Obituary

JOYCE N. MARTIN

FRENCHVILLE, ME

Joyce N. Martin – beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many, age 74 died on January 17th, 2023 with her children and loved ones by her side.  Born on March 26, 1948, daughter of Paul and Emelda (St Amand) Dufour of St. David.  On November 21, 1966 Joyce married the love of her life, Frank P Martin just a short few months after meeting; it was love at first sight. They purchased a business in 1972 which became Martin’s Service & Auto Parts where in the most admirable partnership they served the community for 31 years. They raised a beautiful family and enjoyed 49 wonderful years of marriage together.

Joyce cherished her time with her grandkids Tony Martin, Hannah Stuart, Griffin and Olivia Weston, Emily, Colby and Taylor Martin as well as her great granddaughters Haylee and Kennedy Martin. She and her husband Frank were often admired for their eloquent dancing of the Jive and they enjoyed spending time with their close knit group of friends. When she wasn’t entertaining, she could often be found in her garden tending to her flowers and vegetables.  After losing her husband, her love of dance later led her to try line-dancing where she met her special friend, Gil Babin.  She was also very crafty and made many beautiful pieces of art.  Joyce was active in the community, having served as a member and officer of the Ladies Auxiliary of The Cyr Plourde Legion Post 145 and Frenchville Fire Department as well as a member of Les Dames de Saint Anne.

Joyce is survived by her companion Gil Babin and her children Scott Martin & his wife Kelly of Milton, NH, Tammy Weston of Scarborough, ME and Shawn Martin& his girlfriend Andrea Wessling of Turner, ME.  She is also survived by her sisters Angie Thibeault, Bernadette Aube, brothers Gilman, Wallen and Fern Dufour as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

Joyce was greeted in heaven by her husband Frank Martin as well as her brothers Bertrand, Ronald, Willard and Joel Dufour as well as her sister Doria Albert.  She was also predeceased by her brothers in law Gerald Martin, Leo James Martin, Joseph Albert, Paul Morin and Melvin Thibeault and sisters in law Rolande Martin, Priscilla O’Connell,  Lorain Morin, Mabel Dufour & Lucille Martin as well as nephews Paul Martin, John O’Connell, Kevin Dufour & Michael Albert and nieces Gail Corcoran and Debbie Stankiewicz.

Family and friends may give their condolences on Friday, January 20 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday January 21 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the Michaud Funeral Home in St. Agatha until time of service with Fr. Alex officiating a mass at 10:00 am at the St. Luce Catholic Church in Frenchville.
