Frenchville - Leo James (Tom) Martin, 88, passed away Wednesday May 31st at a nursing care facility in Ft Kent surrounded by his family. Tom was born March 29 1929 in Frenchville, the son of Joseph and Edith (Chasse). He was a lifelong resident of Frenchville and a 62-year member of American Legion Post 145 in Frenchville. He was a volunteer fireman, former owner of Martin’s Shell Station in Frenchville, former school-bus driver for MSAD 33, former employee of Daigle Oil Co, and former employee of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Frenchville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a recipient of a Purple Heart for wounds suffered during the Korean War.
He is survived by one sister Lorraine Morin and her husband Paul of Newington CT, his five children: daughter Diane Albert and husband Patrick of Frenchville; son Jim and wife Helen of Londonderry NH; daughter Louise Paradis and husband Mark of Frenchville; son Gary and wife Jane of Bel-Air MD; and son Allen of Saco ME; three stepchildren Robert Chasse and wife Joan of Frenchville; Diane Roy and husband Raymond of FL; and Roger Chasse of Bristol CT; 21 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Tom was predeceased by his first wife Rolande Michaud, his second wife Lucille Chasse, two brothers Gerald of New Britain CT and Frank of Frenchville; a sister Priscille O’Connell of Brewer ME, and daughter in law Robin Martin of Saco, Me.
Relatives and friends may call at the Michaud Funeral Home in St. Agatha, Saturday June 3, 2017, from 8:30am to 9:30am. Services will be at St. Luce Catholic Church at 10:00 with Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating. Burial will be in the St. Luce Cemetery, Frenchville, Me.
