Lucille (Collins) Chamberland

St. Agatha

Lucille Collins Chamberland of St. Agatha died on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Cape Memory Care in Cape Elizabeth, Maine surrounded by her family.  She was born in Frenchville on August 30, 1931.  The daughter of the late Xavier and Lena (Raymond) Collins,  Mrs. Chamberland graduated from Madawaska High School and went on to marry Clifford P. Chamberland; they were married for 60 years. 

Lucille worked as a teacher’s aid before having her three daughters and then became a full time homemaker.  Lucille enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.  She loved everything about the outdoors.  She would spend days picking strawberries, hazel nuts, and helping during potato harvest with her husband which consisted of early mornings and late evenings. She was such a hard worker and she instilled that in her girls.  She was a phenomenal cook and she would share her desserts, vegetables from her garden and smelts, with many locals.  Summer days were spent on the porch swing admiring the beauty of Long Lake with her family.  She loved going on “safaris” at dusk to see if some wildlife could be seen and sure enough there would be!  She relished the time spent with her daughters and grandchildren.   She was so proud of her grandsons.  She was a member of the Legionnaire for 71 years.

Lucille is survived by her three daughters; Janice Chamberland and partner Jean of Portland, ME; Phyllis Stewart of Saco, ME, and Karen and her husband David Rowe, Jr., of Westbrook ME.   Three grandsons, Tyler and Neil Stewart, Devin Rowe, and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Clifford in 2014 and grandson Joshua Rowe in 2017.  Lucille is also predeceased by 17 siblings.
