Marie Viola (Chasse) Beverage
St. Agatha, ME.
Vi was born second of nine to Eddie Chasse and Artheline Lausier Chasse in
Madawaska. She passed away peacefully after a valiant four month battle with
brain cancer on April 26, 2021, one day after her 92nd birthday. She was a strong,
active and independent woman who lived her life on her own terms, but always
with compassion for others. While living in CT she owned and operated a dog
grooming business and retired from the Sheraton as a manager of the
housekeeping department, earning the award of Manager of the Year in 1989.
Following her retirement, Vi returned to Maine in 1992. She was an avid reader
and not afraid to try new things, taking up fishing, snowmobiling and riding ATV's
when she was in her 60's, continuing these activities well into her late 80's. She
was always involved in a project, which probably included knitting, gardening,
refinishing furniture or repainting rooms around her home. She is survived by two
brothers Harold of Yountville, CA, Gerard of Van Buren, two sisters Alouida Dubay
of Caribou, Wilma Madore of Old Saybrook, CT, along with numerous nieces,
nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her special life long friend Louise
Bouchard of Lewiston and her children Elaine (Gary) Spieker and their children
and Jane (Jack) Coke and their children, all of whom she considered her adopted
family. She was predeceased by her husband Alton, two brothers Nelson and
Donald, two sisters Sr. Dorina Chasse, Sisters of the Good Shepherd and Julia Roy.
Viola will be buried in New Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, CT at a later date. Due to
Covid Restrictions, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Agatha Catholic
Church for Family and Friends. Condolences may be sent to
