BOIS, Omer, age 86, resident of Van Buren and former resident of St. David,
Maine, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Aroostook House of
Comfort in Presque Isle, Maine, after complications that resulted from a bad fall
taken in October, 2021. Omer was born in St. Anne, New Brunswick on
September 8, 1935 to Ernest and Alma Pelletier Bois. Omer is survived by his
siblings Therese Bois Michaud, Conrad Bois, Raymonde Bois, all of Grand Falls, New
Brunswick, and is predeceased by his brother Evon Bois. Omer attended school in New
Brunswick and grew up farming and cutting lumber. Omer married the love of his life, Mona
Martin Bois on January 26, 1963 and together they raised 4 children: Gilles Bois of
Barkhamsted, Connecticut, Gerald Bois, predeceased, Line Bois Ouellette of St. Agatha Maine,
and Danny Bois of Barkhamsted, Connecticut.
Omer was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a lumberjack, truck driver and
carpenter and was known by all as a “jack of all trades.” He was a member of the Knights of
Columbus, 3rd degree, Council #8414 in Grand Isle, Maine. Omer loved to hunt and fish,
hobbies which he shared with his sons Gilles, Danny and Gerald and his grandson Dylan. He
was a skilled woodsman and loved to listen to French music. He was a spiritual man and
attended St. Agatha Catholic Church in St. Agatha, ME. He will be deeply missed by his family,
friends and all who knew him.
Omer is survived by his wife, Mona Martin Bois of Van Buren, Maine, his son, Gilles Bois of
Barkhamsted, CT and his wife Nancy Markelon Bois, their children Justin Bois and his wife
Julia, Jennifer Bois and her fiancé Brandon, and Jaime Bois; his son Gerald Bois, predeceased;
his daughter Line Bois Ouellette and her husband Leroy Ouellette, their children Dylan Bois and
his wife Alisha Davenport Bois and Kristy Bois; his son Danny Bois and his wife Lisa Kapcinski
and their children Katrina, Brianna and Aryana. Omer was deeply loved by all of his
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, along with the rest of his extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Jully 22 at the St. Agatha Church at 10:00.
