Omer J. A. Dionne

Grand Isle-Omer J. A. Dionne, 81 passed away peacefully April 9, 2021 at home in Grand Isle.  He was born January 10, 1940 In Grand Isle the son of the late Albert and Roseanne (Lavigne) Dionne.

He attended the Madawaska High School and was drafted in the United States Army and later with the United States National Guard.

Omer was a potato farmer for over 45 years of his life and even after he was “retired” he could often be found working in the fields, planting his garden or riding his motorcycle.
He also served his community and volunteered countless hours with the American Legion post #147 in Madawaska, American Legion Riders, St Gerard choir, Knights of Columbus, land supporter of the Grand Isle ATV and snowmobile clubs.

Omer is survived by his loving wife Ginette (Beaulieu) eight children, Tina Cormier and her husband Richard of Grand Isle, Lynn Beaulieu and her husband Kenneth of Grand Isle, Tammy Martin and her husband Ronald of Booneville, KY, Alan Philibert and his wife Yvette of Stanford Springs, CN, Brenda Philibert of Presque Isle, Kimmy Philibert of Presque Isle, Claude Philibert Jr and his wife Danielle of Holland, MA,  twelve grandchildren Luke, Adam, Valerie, Jeremy, Katelynn, Dillon, Kade, Chase, Mitchell, Michael, Eric, Samantha, six great-grandchildren, Ensley, Amelia, Camron, Gavin, Jaden, Abel, one sister Cecile Mackenzie of Dartmouth, NS and one brother Albert Dionne Jr and his wife Ruth of Caribou.

Omer is predeceased by his daughter Sherri Kelley, four brothers, Aurele, Victor, Leo, Reno, three sisters, Cecile, Georgianne, Florence.

Omer will be remembered for his tremendous heart, generous giving, laughter and his memorable phrase “Holy Sweet Pickle”

Due to the Covid restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Gerard Church in Grand Isle.
