Richard Eldon Rossignol, 77, died July 13, 2014 unexpectedly after brief illness at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor surrounded by his family.  He was born in Edmundston, N.B., Canada September 8, 1937, the son of Levite and Gladys (Landry) Rossignol. 

Eldon owned a second generation insurance agency for 40 years before retiring at the age of 62.  He lived his retired life at long lake and spent his winters in Florida with the love of his life,  Shelda.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends he made throughout his life and playing golf. 

Eldon was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and he also served in the U.S. Army.

Eldon leaves behind his loving wife Shelda of 49 years, one son Richard of Madawaska and his special friend Wendy Pelletier, and one grandson Nicholas Rossignol. 

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Pete of Madawaska and Philip of Georgia & one sister Rita and her husband Reno Daigle of Rhode Island.

Friends and family may give their condolences before the service which will take place at 9:00am on Monday July 21 until time of service at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in St. Agatha with the Rev. James Plourde officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at the Maine Veteran Cemetery in Caribou, ME.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Our Lady of the Valley”, 379 Main St., St. Agatha,  ME 04772, for the renovation of the St. Michael's Chapel at Birch Point.
