Reverend Eddy J. Morin

Reverend Eddy J. Morin, was called to his eternal reward by his Lord and Savior on August18, 2023.
Fr. Eddy was born July 8, 1961, in Southington, CT, the son of Leo and Ida (Pelletier) Morin. After graduating from Madawaska High School (1981), Fr. Eddy earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in sociology from Franciscan University Steubenville, OH (1985). He took part on and assisted with his family business. While discerning his call to serve the Lord and his Church, he completed his theological studies (Master of Divinity) and formation of St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore, MD (1999), the nation’s first and oldest Roman Catholic seminary.
Fr. Eddy was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Portland (Maine) on May 1, 1999, by the Most Rev. Joseph J. Gerry, OSB. Upon ordination, he made history when with his first assignment he was appointed as pastor of the Holy Family Parish, Greenville. His next assignment was as pastor of St. Mary of the Visitation, Houlton, and St. Agnes, Island Falls ME. Because of serious health issues, Fr. Eddy retired from full-time ministry in 2009, but he continued to serve in various local parishes as his health allowed. Fr. Eddy was an honorable 4TH Degree Knights of Columbus.
Fr. Eddy was predeceased by his beloved mother, Ida, in 2013 and his furry companion ,Tonka, a sister in law, Vivian Morin He is survived by his father, Leo James Morin of St. David; four siblings, Jeanne and her husband, Roger Dionne, of St. David, James Morin Jr. of New York, Jackie Morin of North Carolina, Robert Morin and his wife, Kim, of St. David, five nieces and nephews, Patricia Dionne of Old Orchard Beach, Jason Dionne and wife , Sheena, of New Hampshire, Daye and husband, Ryan Avila, of Florida, and Chris and Mandie Morin, both of St. David; two grandnephews, R.J. Oliver and Jacob Dionne, two grandnieces, Cadence Oliver and Lily Dionne; several cousins, aunts and uncles, including his special aunt, Marcella “Marcy” Ouellette, who lovingly provided him with much care and company in recent years.
Family, friends, and clergy are invited to the Reception of the Body, which will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 23, at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the St. Agatha Catholic Church. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Agatha Catholic Church. Committal prayers and burial will take place at a later date in the Lower Cemetery St. Agatha, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Priest Benefit Plan, restricted to supporting the priest’ health plan for which Fr. Eddy was most grateful.
