St. Agatha – Robert Joseph Collin “Bob”, age 74, died battling cancer on August 18, 2019 at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 14, 1944 in St. Agatha Maine, the son of Claude and Blanche Collin.
He grew up in St. Agatha and graduated from Wisdom High School, class of 1963. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Agatha Volunteer Fire Department. He worked many years as a logger, drove a truck, was a machinist, an avid hunter and fisherman, who had a passion for the outdoors and love of nature. He was an amazingly strong, hardworking, kindhearted, spiritual, loving, honest, witty, generous and giving man with unshakeable core values who loved unconditionally. His smile and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Bob will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and cousin. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Frances Collin, who he married on September 4, 1965 and celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together they raised 4 amazing boys and 1 beautiful daughter. He is survived by his sons and daughter and their wives; Glenn and Sandy of Fort Kent, Brian and Stella of Falmouth, Dave and Gayle of Trenton, Mark of Grand Junction, Colorado, Paula and Julie of Manchester, NH. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters and their wives and husbands; Emile and Muriel of St. Basile, Roland and Mae of Fort Kent, Philip of Portland, Claudette and Emery Dionne of Sinclair, Jackie and Edward LeVasseur of Madawaska, Cecile and Donald Fontaine of Falmouth. He also leaves behind his 9 beloved grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ronald, Shaina, Dylan, Derek, Kyle, Colby, Cooper, and Payton; his great grandchild Addison Ouellette, along with nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Claude and Blanche Collin; and nephew Curtis Collins.
Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday August 21, 2019 at Michaud Funeral Home, in St. Agatha and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Agatha Catholic Church with nephew Father Paul Dumais and Father Alex. For those who desire, donations may be made to the Edward J. Paradis Cancer Fund at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent.
