ROLAND ALBERT
ST. AGATHA, MAINE
Roland Albert of Saint Agatha, Maine passed away at home, February 12, 2023. He was surrounded by his family who loved him.
He was born in Saint Agatha, Maine, February 8th, 1939, to Maxime and Julie Albert (née Gauvin). He often joked that when he was born, he got up and walked through the snow. The third in a family of six children, he chose to help his father on the potato farm he grew up on.
He married Arlene Fongemie in 1964 and they moved to Massachusetts to pursue his livelihood, as many did at that time. They returned to Saint Agatha not long after and Roland took over the family potato farm, which in the ensuing years of perseverance, hard work, and a good dose of Albert stubbornness, he built and transformed into a very successful business.
Roland was known and widely admired for being extremely dedicated, steadfast, tough, and uncompromising when it came to work and family. Even in his elder years he did not stop working and doing what he loved, trading his potato fields for vegetable gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene, and his children Steven, Susan, and David, as well as his grandchildren, Caleb, Justin, Chelsi, and Abigail; and great grandchildren Maria and Sylvia, all of whom he loved very much.
Service will be held Friday on May 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Agatha Catholic Church.
