Rolande S. Dumais 88 died peacefully surrounded by her family, January 9, 2017 at a Madawaska healthcare facility. She was born May 4, 1928, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Maxime and Marianne (Frazer) Sirois. Rolande grew up on her father's potato farm. Being the eldest daughter, she helped with the household and her younger siblings. She learned to knit, crochet, and sew at an early age; making slippers, mittens, afgans, clothes for her children and beautiful quilts. She made crafts that she loved to teach to others. She also made jigsaw puzzles in her spare time. She worked at St. Joseph's Nursing Home as a CNA for 19 years. Rolande was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Frenchville for 38 years. She was most proud to be a mom and a memere.
She is survived by 9 children and their spouses: two sons, Real and Debbie and Lloyd and Tamma; seven daughters: Jackie Ecker, Claudette & Rene Bernier; Claire & Frank Colgan, Noella & Willy Mills, Lisa & Paul Simmons, Doreen & Kevin McDaniel and Carmen & Richard Sirois, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren; 7 siblings, Roaul, Therese, Jeanne, Aline, Gilberthe, Yvette and Lorette. Rolande is predeceased by her husband O'neil and 4 brothers; Fernand, Roland, Normand and Louis.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14, at 10:00am at St. Luce Catholic church, with Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating. Friends and family may offer condolences from 9:00am until time of service at the church.
