Sr. Candide Corriveau Obituary

Sister Candide Corriveau (Cecile), 92, died October 17, 2016 at a Fort Kent Health Facility. She  was  born March 8, 1924 in Frenchville, Maine. The daughter of  George Corriveau and Rose Anna Cote.

She was professed as a Daughter of Wisdom on August 2, 1948 in Ottawa, Canada.

She ministered as a teacher in Ozone Park and Port Jefferson, NY; Norfolk and Fredericksburg, Virginia; and Madawaska, Me. Following her retirement  in 1986 her ministry became parish and community service in St. Agatha, Me. She was a member of the French/English choir, a lector, and served on the Parish Council. She was also active in organizing  Faith-Sharing groups.

Sr. Candide was very special to and much loved by her siblings, her nieces and nephews, her dear friends and sisters in Christ.  She is remembered for her kindness, compassion, her desire to spread the Gospel bringing others to the knowledge of God, helping others in her gentle way.  She was a great role model, loved spending time with her family and had an infectious laugh.

She is survived by two brothers, Gedeon and his wife Aline of Frenchville, Me and Ronald of Colchester, CT. Also, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She is also survived  by her sisters in community, the Daughters of Wisdom.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Camille and Fidel; her sisters Candide and husband Dennis Michaud, Julie and husband Edward Dubois, Gabrielle and husband Thomas Anderson,  her

sister-in-law Doris Corriveau and nephews Marc Corriveau, Glen Corriveau and Stanley Michaud.

 

Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday October 23 and Monday from 8:30 a.m. to time of funeral at Michaud Funeral Home, St Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday October 24, at the St. Agatha Catholic Church, with Rev. James Plourde  

officiating. Burial will be in the Notre Dame de la Sagesse Cemetery in St. Agatha.
