St. Agatha, Maine
Therese passed away at the age of 99, on March 23, 2025, at a health facility in Madawaska. She was born on June 28, 1925, to Wilfred & Antoinette (Bouchard) Lamy of St. Thomas de Caxton, a small village in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. She was the oldest of seven children.
She attended school at St. Thomas-de-Caxton, Quebec. Her formal schooling ended early when she hired herself out helping with domestic chores and later working in the kitchen at a local seminary, and then at a local cotton mill. In the mid 1940's, At the age of 21 she married Elzear Blais, and later had her first child Elaine before they moved to the states settling in Westford, Mass. They then had three sons, Real, Robert and Jacques who were born in Lowell, Mass. Elzear passed away suddenly on Feb. 8, 1978. She re-married in 1984 to Mike Popolizio. Her second husband also died suddenly in May 1990. During the late 1960's through the mid 1980's she was employed at The Murray printing company in Forge village. From the early 1980's she helped take care of her mother-in-law, Ester Popolizio and then her own mother until her passing in May of 1999. On Sept 25, 1999, Therese moved to St. Agatha, in northern Maine, for over 20 years near her son, Jacques and daughter in-law Maggie. In Dec. of 2022 she moved to Country Village Estates, in Madawaska, where she remained until her passing.
Therese is survived by her daughter Elaine, three sons, Real, (Maggie) Blais, Robert (Audrey) Blais, and Jacques (Maggi) Blais, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Flora and one sister-in-law, Lucette Lamy. Burial will be at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Westford, Massachusetts.
